Eric Schopf has been working in the investment community for over 28 years. Prior to joining Tufton Capital Management as VP and Portfolio Manager, Schopf served as Portfolio Manager in the Trust Department of the Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust Company. A proven performer, he managed money for high net worth individuals and endowments. The experience garnered in this role positioned him well to join – and enhance – the efforts of the Tufton executive team.

Schopf earned a BS in Finance from the University of Maryland, and an MBA from the York College of Pennsylvania.

As Tufton’s Director of Research, Eric oversees the firm’s Investment Committee and manages its analytical team. In this role, Eric is responsible for managing the strategic direction of Tufton’s financial research analysis provided by the firm’s investment professionals. Eric is also Tufton’s Chief Compliance Officer. In this capacity, Eric ensures that Tufton Capital complies with laws, regulations, rulings and Securities and Exchange Commission releases governing investment advisors.
